Captiva Island

Captain’s Log – 3/8/25

The day started with an amazing sunrise over the anchorage for coffee and breakfast sandwiches made of leftover rolls from dinner at Cabbage Key last night.

After breakfast, we hopped a little south today to Captiva Island and stayed at the yacht club there. It’s a small little beach club with only four dock slips. Cross the street and your on the beach… maybe 50 steps from the boat.

We arrived in time for lunch on the patio, then took care of some boat chores and finding an alternative marina in Marco Island to prep for the long trip to Marathon. Unfortunately, Marco Island Yacht Club can’t accommodate us. Actually didn’t even return my messages which was 180 degrees from our previous experience there. We were looking forward to seeing the club now reopened after a remodel. We’re going to stay at Rose Marina instead, which is closer to a grocery store anyway.

We went for a walk on the beach, watched another beautiful sunset then had dinner at the clubhouse.
